<br>To start with I used distress inks and water spritzing to make a rainbow panel, or I should say three rainbow panels on different cardstocks with differing results. After that I die cut the cross and decided which background it looked best against. The cross was adhered to the panel with foam pads and I added a Hero Arts flower gem to finish. I matted the panel on white card and added it to the card base using foam pads. <br>

I haven't made many slimline cards so thought I'd challenge myself and give it a go.<br>

<br>One of my favourite layering stamp sets is Sunny Studio Stamps' Everything's Rosy set. I love how dimensional and realistic the flowers and leaves images look and it's fun coming up with different ink mixes for them. <br>
<br>I made a cardbase and added an embossed background layered on silver glitter card. Next up I had some fun getting inky to make the flowers and leaves.

I arranged the stamped images and die cut foliage filler pieces on a jar I had coloured with distress inks (tumbled glass, broken china and faded jeans). The stems were coloured using watercolour pencils. To finish I stamped a sentiment from a Hero Arts set on a strip of card and fishtailed one end.

Again this year it's a very different St Patrick's Day here without the usual parades and celebrations. But we'll certainly enjoy the day off work and school anyway and have our own fun at home.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://live.staticflickr.com/3761/14332711313_f1efe5d958_k.jpg%22%20width=%222048%22%20height=%221536%22%20alt=%22Cliffs%20of%20Moher%22%3E%3C/a%3E%3Cscript%20async%20src=%22//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js%22%20charset=%22utf-8%22%3E%3C/script%3E" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; "><img alt="" border="0" width="600" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="800" src="https://live.staticflickr.com/3761/14332711313_f1efe5d958_k.jpg%22%20width=%222048%22%20height=%221536%22%20alt=%22Cliffs%20of%20Moher%22%3E%3C/a%3E%3Cscript%20async%20src=%22//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js%22%20charset=%22utf-8%22%3E%3C/script%3E"/></a></div>
<br>
Today I just have a few more St Patrick's Day cards that I made this year.<br>
<br>The first card came together really quickly using the flip it die. The shamrock, made from hearts, was my way of using up a background that I made using acrylic paints. I didn't like the background I had created with the paints but it looked better cut into smaller pieces. The same background was also used for the shamrock on my third card.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51045523596_691606f34b_k.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; "><img alt="" border="0" height="600" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="539" src="https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51045523596_691606f34b_k.jpg"/></a></div>
<b><i>Dies - Scallop Edge Circle Die Flip It (The Stamps of Life) & Heart Die, Embossing Folder - Shamrocks (Darice)</i></b><br>
<br>For the second card I made a background of patterned scraps and layered the squares on foam pads for some dimension. The little shamrock was again make using a heart die. <br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51045865581_956f196cc1_k.jpg%22%20width=%221584%22%20height=%222048%22%20alt=%22St%20Patrick&#x27;s%20Day%20Scrappy%20Background%22%3E%3C/a%3E%3Cscript%20async%20src=%22//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js%22%20charset=%22utf-8%22%3E%3C/script%3E" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; "><img alt="" border="0" height="600" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="619" src="https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51045865581_956f196cc1_k.jpg%22%20width=%221584%22%20height=%222048%22%20alt=%22St%20Patrick&#x27;s%20Day%20Scrappy%20Background%22%3E%3C/a%3E%3Cscript%20async%20src=%22//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js%22%20charset=%22utf-8%22%3E%3C/script%3E"/></a></div>
<b><i>Dies - Scallop Squares (M&C Boutique The Works), heart die, Sentiment Stamp - Celebrate Everyday (Hero Arts)</i>
</b><br>
<br>For the third card I have the shamrock, cut out from the acrylic paint background I mentioned previously, as my focal point on the embossed background. I added the cross cut out of gold mirror card to celebrate St Patrick.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51045150948_d9c449acab_k.jpg%22%20width=%221443%22%20height=%222048%22%20alt=%22Happy%20St%20Patrick&#x27;s%20Day%22%3E%3C/a%3E%3Cscript%20async%20src=%22//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js%22%20charset=%22utf-8%22%3E%3C/script%3E" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; "><img alt="" border="0" height="600" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="564" src="https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51045150948_d9c449acab_k.jpg%22%20width=%221443%22%20height=%222048%22%20alt=%22Happy%20St%20Patrick&#x27;s%20Day%22%3E%3C/a%3E%3Cscript%20async%20src=%22//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js%22%20charset=%22utf-8%22%3E%3C/script%3E"/></a></div>
<b><i>Dies - Framelits Hearts (Sizzix), Crosses Two (Spellbinders), Labels 10 (Spellbinders), Embossing Folder - Shamrocks (Darice), Stamp - Celebrate Everyday (Hero Arts)</i></b><br>
<br>It's such a beautiful, sunny day here today so I'm finally going to get a chance to enjoy pottering around and tidying up and getting things ready in the garden. Hope you enjoy your day whatever you do!

I don't know how I've managed to accumulate so many scraps but I'm going to try to use more and more of them in my cards before the scrap containers burst at the seams.<br>
<br>With so many scraps of green patterned paper on hand, I decided to use some of them on a card I sent to my aunt for St Patrick's Day.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXNnffWJdNNw_y8diA2M5zKKVVFaLWunUwk4AixA8AL1Ixb-kFzMcJzkz8hHxuV9cL9aRfVfJJLSXG1bTN_JVp_4kUgaUohdVZ9LSoaO8kprLjKTBuZnIvGwXrYsdIDUEaUyvjv40qCzk/s2048/20210314_164130%255B1%255D.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; "><img alt="" border="0" width="1000" data-original-height="1000" data-original-width="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXNnffWJdNNw_y8diA2M5zKKVVFaLWunUwk4AixA8AL1Ixb-kFzMcJzkz8hHxuV9cL9aRfVfJJLSXG1bTN_JVp_4kUgaUohdVZ9LSoaO8kprLjKTBuZnIvGwXrYsdIDUEaUyvjv40qCzk/s600/20210314_164130%255B1%255D.jpg"/></a></div>
<b><i>Stamp - Celebrate Everyday (Hero Arts), Embossing Folder - Shamrocks (Darice), Dies - Fancy Tags (Spellbinders) & Framelits Hearts (Sizzix)</i><i></i></b><br>
<br>I stuck strips of patterned paper onto pieces of light cardstock and die cut three scrappy hearts. The hearts were put together to form a shamrock and I used some of the card left over after die cutting the hearts to make a stem.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9AgPtAhGXbZLmyV4ZQl0GYRRQHe9jihqMz8Fb_SY5DS9v0VwojHE_voERn97rgvCaSpEa3Swb9rVrhJl305AzCQ0lzFt_ejfRFTvN1yi28wciU8R5JjL-9J69Vzip9YBHf7NTHyZFJ50/s2048/20210314_163941%255B1%255D.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; "><img alt="" border="0" height="1000" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2000" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9AgPtAhGXbZLmyV4ZQl0GYRRQHe9jihqMz8Fb_SY5DS9v0VwojHE_voERn97rgvCaSpEa3Swb9rVrhJl305AzCQ0lzFt_ejfRFTvN1yi28wciU8R5JjL-9J69Vzip9YBHf7NTHyZFJ50/s600/20210314_163941%255B1%255D.jpg"/></a></div>
The background was dry embossed and the sentiment stamped on a die cut tag.<br>
<br> Here we don't send each other St Patrick's Day cards, so I usually only make one every year for a friend who lives further afield. But because of visiting restrictions this year due to Covid, I made a few more to send, so I'll post those tomorrow given the day that's in it.

<a href="https://scrappinstampinsingin.blogspot.com/">Linda</a> told me about a
fun challenge at the
<a href="https://die-cut-divas.blogspot.com/">Die Cut Divas Challenge Blog</a>.
So I decided to join in.<p>
<a
href="https://die-cut-divas.blogspot.com/2021/01/fun-fold-time-with-hero-arts.html"
>This month's challenge</a
>
is to make a fun fold card. I have to admit I think I've only ever made a couple
of fun fold cards before, but after making one for the challenge, I think I'll
be making lots of different kinds of fun fold cards from now on. So the card I
made, using a z fold design, is a Valentine for my hubby.

I have a few different heart dies in my stash but one of my favourites is a Hero

from silver glitter card and backed it with a light pink pearlescent card.

The z fold base was so quick and easy to make by just scoring the front of the
card down the centre and folding it back on itself.

I used paper from a paper pad I found in Lidl over a year ago to cover the card
front and inside. I left the centre panel blank so I could write my message on
it. The sentiment was heat embossed using Versamark and silver embossing powder.

I thought the sweet little sparkly birds were so cute. There's lots more sparkle
on the card but we've had cloudy day after cloudy day here since I've made the
card, so I didn't capture it very well in the photos.

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzN66wdl7ix7sNwrJ46NVuFYlIvkzHmc5UTE0DHW_fyZ_ijKihxf9-cpzyZ1j_FT6s3fk7MIwBFAWnApdF-D0nX-x8PbOnafprnIr9l83cWY5tZm-H4xc0P6rwRXp5-hZaw96j9b9Ajc0/s1600/20181117_122404.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzN66wdl7ix7sNwrJ46NVuFYlIvkzHmc5UTE0DHW_fyZ_ijKihxf9-cpzyZ1j_FT6s3fk7MIwBFAWnApdF-D0nX-x8PbOnafprnIr9l83cWY5tZm-H4xc0P6rwRXp5-hZaw96j9b9Ajc0/s640/20181117_122404.jpg" width="640" height="480" data-original-width="1600" data-original-height="1200" /></a></div><br />
<i><b>Dies - Eliza & Kate Snowflakes (Simon Says Stamp), Fancy Cut Christmas (Hero Arts), Circle Nestabilites (Spellbinders) and Stitched Circles (Pink & Main)</b></i><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHTt1I1ePdoCFbVSRXzkjTrRps_KJfOWu1fB9b6ZUKse_iR9QYe3atnJbBzotJl7_Ec5nAdk1rmsSicgRWtl6IZn74RfjdOS0mld9Jr1BfUBOtA2ifkZG02oO0PqmIXwLNhlkAUQmRl5A/s1600/20181117_115523.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHTt1I1ePdoCFbVSRXzkjTrRps_KJfOWu1fB9b6ZUKse_iR9QYe3atnJbBzotJl7_Ec5nAdk1rmsSicgRWtl6IZn74RfjdOS0mld9Jr1BfUBOtA2ifkZG02oO0PqmIXwLNhlkAUQmRl5A/s640/20181117_115523.jpg" width="480" height="640" data-original-width="1200" data-original-height="1600" /></a></div> <br />
I think shaker cards are so fun so made a shaker to go on my first tag. I adhered five glittery gold stars to the plain black background of the shaker element, added a mix of sequins and stars and used a gold frame over the acetate to trap all the shaker pieces inside. A pretty bow, not made by me but recycled from a box of chocolates, finished off the look I wanted. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgeexFluVs-IGuCrNTHCuxXFkWNAUs0zp1oSARBQoOhcFgWOoQSliUfDka2BleIW2Ugb4nbjkKAmCIWJzJhvWAph0giI18rnrwFD72kNyHJ3rSesJbUpWegQUZm4P6YyT9Nb2wH5ui3d4/s1600/20181117_120912.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgeexFluVs-IGuCrNTHCuxXFkWNAUs0zp1oSARBQoOhcFgWOoQSliUfDka2BleIW2Ugb4nbjkKAmCIWJzJhvWAph0giI18rnrwFD72kNyHJ3rSesJbUpWegQUZm4P6YyT9Nb2wH5ui3d4/s640/20181117_120912.jpg" width="360" height="640" data-original-width="900" data-original-height="1600" /></a></div><br />
I love the way my friend <a href="http://scrappinstampinsingin.blogspot.com">Linda</a> used a die to emboss the background on her bicycle card <a href="http://scrappinstampinsingin.blogspot.com/2018/09/penny-black-birthday-anniversary.html">here</a>. So I did the same with the Eliza Snowflake die on this tag, added the Kate Snowflake cut from glittery card and a little gold gem to the centre of the snowflake. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkh6mc5gqpjYpTf-qxQJ1Ojd0ZXi_xcRKnF33Uq3_FE25RKFhIUNnL9FFmdAraJ-0HT_bhjpe2AYQi9VFEF5kKI23QQEqPs5UmS1Qu5nH4k58QhuU7ny0tvXq4Rl4we06jPfdM23HApnY/s1600/20181117_121018.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkh6mc5gqpjYpTf-qxQJ1Ojd0ZXi_xcRKnF33Uq3_FE25RKFhIUNnL9FFmdAraJ-0HT_bhjpe2AYQi9VFEF5kKI23QQEqPs5UmS1Qu5nH4k58QhuU7ny0tvXq4Rl4we06jPfdM23HApnY/s640/20181117_121018.jpg" width="360" height="640" data-original-width="900" data-original-height="1600" /></a></div><br />
When I was taking photos of the tags on the bottles who should come along with his own bottle of Buck's Fizz looking for a chase - Toby! I don't know if it was coincidental or if he recognised the similarities between what I had and one of his toys, but I had a good laugh when I saw him and managed to get him to pose for a few seconds after I chased him down the corridor. <br />
<br />

<br />
These are the main supplies I gathered together for the card.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwW8fclW12Pd2RqSFco84jXpjsn-s_lMt6Y612qfFWxYevUrVj8hVtlxZrew_Iq52vXsMs8H42xsBBbevD6fNV-K6GqvkjAvEnAA0mm6Pxk3nDzRBG2n2g76kBAlxUsG6jFrxRzWzmGHQ/s1600/20181115_112858.jpg" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwW8fclW12Pd2RqSFco84jXpjsn-s_lMt6Y612qfFWxYevUrVj8hVtlxZrew_Iq52vXsMs8H42xsBBbevD6fNV-K6GqvkjAvEnAA0mm6Pxk3nDzRBG2n2g76kBAlxUsG6jFrxRzWzmGHQ/s640/20181115_112858.jpg" width="640" height="480" data-original-width="1600" data-original-height="1200" /></a><br />
<br />
<b>Stamps - Lavender Stamp Set (Power Poppy) & Maple Leaf (Hero Arts)<br />
Embossing folder - Foliage (Darice)<br />
Dies - Circles Nestabilities (Spellbinders) & Stitched Circle Dies (Pink & Main)<br />
Distress Inks - spiced marmalade, mustard seed, barn door & rusty hinge (Tim Holtz Ranger)<i></i></b><br />
<br />
I enjoyed getting inky with distress inks to make the leaves. <br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNnGbrcsU67Ucd2NcnzTfcWIKMRYEBlZrMbKNnFN-B3j8VsZaOgEKalGNKCFl9ZwNEEbfzAFjJF2k_9CmdErxirhA794LZXk0-1a0Cw37_PkHlJBB4BKp3YR6nQkXbKjZ3_AaRYWNGwpQ/s1600/20181115_112950.jpg" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNnGbrcsU67Ucd2NcnzTfcWIKMRYEBlZrMbKNnFN-B3j8VsZaOgEKalGNKCFl9ZwNEEbfzAFjJF2k_9CmdErxirhA794LZXk0-1a0Cw37_PkHlJBB4BKp3YR6nQkXbKjZ3_AaRYWNGwpQ/s640/20181115_112950.jpg" width="640" height="480" data-original-width="1600" data-original-height="1200" /></a><br />
<br />
Originally I bought the Power Poppy set for the pretty lavender images but love the lovely sentiments in the set including this one that I embossed in gold.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5ROOdDwucvaHZbCamv16cxu2BUGUdKotkw3wGgihPB2jzcRPcAqfsRriwZwdKkbeLEnTzsnBM3Ke5rTBH_VDndMF_ENqAzz_w3uu2gE2SaQKc5NsMAlIx0DJewUQPi1TXUmF2w5JXf5E/s1600/20181115_113409.jpg" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5ROOdDwucvaHZbCamv16cxu2BUGUdKotkw3wGgihPB2jzcRPcAqfsRriwZwdKkbeLEnTzsnBM3Ke5rTBH_VDndMF_ENqAzz_w3uu2gE2SaQKc5NsMAlIx0DJewUQPi1TXUmF2w5JXf5E/s640/20181115_113409.jpg" width="480" height="640" data-original-width="1199" data-original-height="1600" /></a><br />
<br />
On the background I used a Darice embossing folder with some autumnal coloured Core'dinations paper. After the panel was embossed I lightly sanded it and distress the edges slightly. <br />

As you can see my two lads had fun carving pumpkins today.<br />

<br />
It feels like forever since I posted but as I got a little inky for Halloween I thought I'd put my bits and pieces here.<br />
<br />
First up is a card I made for my good friend <a href="http://scrappinstampinsingin.blogspot.com">Linda</a> - thanks again Linda!<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAmVOYxI7vAh2oUe6ATy6-cLVkR8tD6yh-YtS7DqM5NveGXFOkJeepRiMIp9E3NzVPJZwqvTkpEy1f19vvqmODORUCThRbvlWS1C1BJoVwcQAWTePLMfp6QuUl1Z-Pb8KyzJ3L8ZoCSD4/s1600/20181025_214016.jpg" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAmVOYxI7vAh2oUe6ATy6-cLVkR8tD6yh-YtS7DqM5NveGXFOkJeepRiMIp9E3NzVPJZwqvTkpEy1f19vvqmODORUCThRbvlWS1C1BJoVwcQAWTePLMfp6QuUl1Z-Pb8KyzJ3L8ZoCSD4/s640/20181025_214016.jpg" width="480" height="640" data-original-width="1200" data-original-height="1600" /></a><br />
<br />
A couple of years ago she sent me some gorgeous Halloween papers that I hoarded until now. I used a Sizzix flip it die set which made it so quick and easy to make this type of card.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhC-LaUea9adyb3kCKKUP-AtPrLoFWPItbP-gSCP-bTeaeVXY0Jb4W_xwzyBdRQpOp8kniT0VT5Z2O1VdC1fYXTcTYvl8fE5e7KPizaN0SiUdhZPZnB6Rp9w0AT00H_-9ro68R3jyRav0E/s1600/20181025_173722.jpg" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhC-LaUea9adyb3kCKKUP-AtPrLoFWPItbP-gSCP-bTeaeVXY0Jb4W_xwzyBdRQpOp8kniT0VT5Z2O1VdC1fYXTcTYvl8fE5e7KPizaN0SiUdhZPZnB6Rp9w0AT00H_-9ro68R3jyRav0E/s640/20181025_173722.jpg" width="480" height="640" data-original-width="1200" data-original-height="1600" /></a><br />
<br />
I used the sentiment from Lawn Fawn's Trick or Treat mini set. On the flip side of the sentiment piece I used the witch image from Hero Arts Ghostly Greetings set.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_2PnCbHyE0HZVTtydwKmjLB5YhnQCROHHZU-mREemH-4SgSPmQPd69BOebRT1qpOYkHpFFSFBKzAV5ZNMaIx2sXt0LOXd0f_J2Q6vZivHqOwE6ncNT42vIYXkIMmhBFtX9dVSu0qyu3s/s1600/20181025_215030.jpg" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_2PnCbHyE0HZVTtydwKmjLB5YhnQCROHHZU-mREemH-4SgSPmQPd69BOebRT1qpOYkHpFFSFBKzAV5ZNMaIx2sXt0LOXd0f_J2Q6vZivHqOwE6ncNT42vIYXkIMmhBFtX9dVSu0qyu3s/s640/20181025_215030.jpg" width="480" height="640" data-original-width="1200" data-original-height="1600" /></a><br />
<br />
I again used Hero Arts Ghostly Greetings set for the little tag on this Halloween treat that I put together for my sister.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRhIWtvItTWlxZ_PzDKduSkAGm9Fvcv0NgB_Lh5EpMTJKm464IuQLhgt36ea6x6SrRMJQT8u0jiMTWA_SaMkuk5d6JRZ61vCWKznZutmrVDkg-i5wYKWSVJueQ9TXw89_mc-2rrkVpD7c/s1600/20181031_211933.jpg" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRhIWtvItTWlxZ_PzDKduSkAGm9Fvcv0NgB_Lh5EpMTJKm464IuQLhgt36ea6x6SrRMJQT8u0jiMTWA_SaMkuk5d6JRZ61vCWKznZutmrVDkg-i5wYKWSVJueQ9TXw89_mc-2rrkVpD7c/s640/20181031_211933.jpg" width="480" height="640" data-original-width="1200" data-original-height="1600" /></a><br />
<br />
The trick or treaters here have finished for the night and we had a lots less callers compared to any other year. So we've got a mountain of treats left - I might just have to put the kettle on for a cuppa and have some chocolate treats with it.stampingandstitchinghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15234850691152873335noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6625349853824254892.post-4043547219636268412017-06-29T20:58:00.001+01:002017-06-29T20:58:15.968+01:00Afternoon Tea Birthday Box CardMy sister and I put together an afternoon tea on our Mam's birthday. I just took a quick photo as we were starting to put everything out on the table, so lol it's definitely not artfully arranged for a photo, but it's the only photo I got of some of the spread before we started to eat! Anyway I thought it would be a nice idea to use the afternoon tea theme on the birthday girl's card. <br />

<br />
A little while ago my friend <a href="www.scrappinstampinsingin.blogspot.com">Linda</a> gave me a pretty die which was perfect for the card - thanks again, Linda! The die is Afternoon Tea by Joy Crafts which I've already enjoyed using over and over again. To make the box card base I used a die I bought recently, Lawn Fawn's Scalloped Box Card Pop-up die - love it! I made my first ever box card a few weeks ago using instructions I found online, but I have to say this die by Lawn Fawn means I can make box cards so quickly and easily. <br />

<br />
The tea set was cut out from a scrap of patterned paper and the little hearts were cut from the tiny scraps I had left over using the hearts die from the same Lawn Fawn set. <br />
<br />

We happened to be in Newbridge one glorious sunny evening and came across the yarn bombing in Liffey Linear Park. It was so enjoyable strolling through the park and taking in all the fun and funky knitted and crocheted pieces that decorated trees, lampposts, railing, benches etc. <br />
<br />
Because it was so sunny and bright and I had to take photos on my phone, unfortunately, my photos don't do justice to the installation, but here goes anyway!<br />
<br />
The first hint of what was to come was the way the swan statue at the entrance to the park was bedecked in colourful knits. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6rpQqS9MP_WX-ehJPpXOf9ISwpFukgWbHpZw63EnMa10mF7WMcjEod5MhtFbA2xpx9qhWy4ynS6GP6k5v7Uao9q-oWQgjOH5S4tLgqB9fsug3qI2nGfuSgeXkSkVwo2lULKrD7PA4fRU/s1600/DSC_0154.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6rpQqS9MP_WX-ehJPpXOf9ISwpFukgWbHpZw63EnMa10mF7WMcjEod5MhtFbA2xpx9qhWy4ynS6GP6k5v7Uao9q-oWQgjOH5S4tLgqB9fsug3qI2nGfuSgeXkSkVwo2lULKrD7PA4fRU/s640/DSC_0154.JPG" width="640" height="360" data-original-width="1600" data-original-height="900" /></a></div><br />

After coming home I thought I really must make a card using an emoji die set I picked up on a fun shopping trip last year with my friend <a href="scrappinstampinsingin.blogspot.com/">Linda</a>. <br />

<br />
I just wanted to make a quick and simple card using one of the emoji dies and because of the way all the trees were decorated in the park I wanted to use some kind of woodgrain on the card. In the end I recycled a piece of card I had saved from packaging. <br />

For my card I decided to have silver sequins representing the rain and, as a rainbow is always a great bonus after a shower, made a rainbow background for the card.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnOc2Oqf_k-EASk_w4NC3Zdp6evihwkvvEE8JIp4u_rEJEBMHxFkwTj344QsGU8t_baNwQbmA-KevqJeR2lO4ZzFxlc7FXzSL-G8K3n4t5mEuy2iGW5Cf7FnCKaBRvlGWFIetaPi8LV7o/s1600/IMGP0560.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnOc2Oqf_k-EASk_w4NC3Zdp6evihwkvvEE8JIp4u_rEJEBMHxFkwTj344QsGU8t_baNwQbmA-KevqJeR2lO4ZzFxlc7FXzSL-G8K3n4t5mEuy2iGW5Cf7FnCKaBRvlGWFIetaPi8LV7o/s640/IMGP0560.JPG" width="482" height="640" /></a></div><br />
<b><i>Dies - Tudor Rose Collection (Spellbinders), Curvy Leaves (Elizabeth Craft Designs) and Thanks Stamp & Cut (Hero Arts)</i></b><br />
<br />
I started by applying distress inks (barn door, spiced marmalade, mustard seed, mowed lawn, salty ocean and shaded lilac) to white card, spritzed with water and repeated the process. Once I was happy with the background I matted it top and bottom with black card and adhered it to a white card base. As the background was so colourful I decided to die cut my flowers and leaves from white card. When the flowers were layered, I added a silver sequin to the flower centre.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHhLgRDwYQvAEUaa0gQE9gPGWimcsPzxxRn9tS7KogyaRX-FMBon59_LeeVLTqDDptMkkpn6FOUckTeLFOSXhkBj5tN23dv8wCFnDdylssSHpMJaJsw5C8JfbzEVrQZDLaPTzC-ckAxaQ/s1600/IMGP0568.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHhLgRDwYQvAEUaa0gQE9gPGWimcsPzxxRn9tS7KogyaRX-FMBon59_LeeVLTqDDptMkkpn6FOUckTeLFOSXhkBj5tN23dv8wCFnDdylssSHpMJaJsw5C8JfbzEVrQZDLaPTzC-ckAxaQ/s640/IMGP0568.JPG" width="480" height="640" /></a></div><br />
The sentiment was die cut twice from black card and layered for some dimension. A sprinkling of silver sequins finished the card. <br />

My good friend <a href="http://scrappinstampinsingin.blogspot.ie/">Linda</a> sent me lots of die cuts and stamped images from Hero Arts' super cute March kit - thanks again, Linda:) I had lots of fun using some of them to make an Easter card for Linda. <br />
<br />
I started by adhering the die cut drills and fence to the card base. The sentiment was stamped using mowed lawn distress ink. I used Promarkers to colour the bunny and carrots and added them to the scene. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioRXoTmgQclqRddrob621zJ5daYaY2fm437uuLAoXOv77ECeM7tZRK1bEquYatntbFhsFTVw095ZXGxOS383ZaEal39vW0V8pFk6FGwb-OV7iUc-8A9AtQ6C7JHIYnWhqEzG1litdqAbo/s1600/IMGP0445.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioRXoTmgQclqRddrob621zJ5daYaY2fm437uuLAoXOv77ECeM7tZRK1bEquYatntbFhsFTVw095ZXGxOS383ZaEal39vW0V8pFk6FGwb-OV7iUc-8A9AtQ6C7JHIYnWhqEzG1litdqAbo/s640/IMGP0445.JPG" width="480" height="640" /></a></div><br />

As this bunny is no ordinary bunny, he is also cultivating some glittery Easter eggs in his garden:) <br />

I'm off now to enjoy my Easter eggs and bunny, including a beautiful dyed egg given to me by a sweet lady in my neighbourhood who hails from Romania and a delicious locally made Lily O'Brien's egg. Hope you have a wonderful Easter!<br />

I'm just popping in to post a card I sent to my good friend <a href="http://scrappinstampinsingin.blogspot.com/">Linda</a> for St Patrick's Day.<br />
<br />
Last year Linda sent me some gorgeous shamrock die cuts so I wanted to use one on my card for her. I applied ink to a cream shamrock, added some lovely shimmery clear Wink of Stella and finished the shamrock off with a green gem. <br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtQmW2cI5KG7bZo4vMKjTUGAHMQaNaqqJtDhbmWQTgIeVaRpWkUmvQJaakJccfoap2ZXeepeOU5cpJ-9HhOqu-UyzER9riIvFdJSKjlkmmL9a7b8M4ThOnI1ucuEwlCEzRXng9oxjjPxc/s1600/IMGP0198.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtQmW2cI5KG7bZo4vMKjTUGAHMQaNaqqJtDhbmWQTgIeVaRpWkUmvQJaakJccfoap2ZXeepeOU5cpJ-9HhOqu-UyzER9riIvFdJSKjlkmmL9a7b8M4ThOnI1ucuEwlCEzRXng9oxjjPxc/s640/IMGP0198.JPG" width="479" height="640" /></a><br />
<br />
Then I die cut a couple of flourishes from gold glitter card using a die from the beautiful Celtic Flourish set by Docrafts. The sentiment was stamped using the same ink I'd applied to the shamrock. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpSbF8GXkZUZdIAlSwJqxSh9VV9NNywOdSt0nxs4kE-vy_pkm92BpXRCHfDUBYkuYM7__Buu3KaoN35WnpEQGU6JHrx4LjoMUTjPK-vRw6vjlKbf9gsmp-t6Jrce_iMw4b7oiI8pqvXvY/s1600/IMGP0181.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpSbF8GXkZUZdIAlSwJqxSh9VV9NNywOdSt0nxs4kE-vy_pkm92BpXRCHfDUBYkuYM7__Buu3KaoN35WnpEQGU6JHrx4LjoMUTjPK-vRw6vjlKbf9gsmp-t6Jrce_iMw4b7oiI8pqvXvY/s640/IMGP0181.JPG" width="481" height="640" /></a></div><br />

<br />
I'm submitting the card into <a href="http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/wednesdaychallenge/simon-says-bit-o-green-2/">Simon Says Stamp's Bit O' Green challenge</a>. <br />
<br />
Have a look <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/scrappin_bari/33324498686/in/dateposted/">here</a> to see the fabulous St Patrick's Day card I received from Linda. Thanks again, Linda :) :) <br />
<br />
St Patrick's Day is a public holiday here so no work or school for us today. We're hoping to spend a fair bit of our long weekend surrounded by green, including visiting one of our favourite places - Glendalough. <br />

So if you don't like seeing Christmas cards in January it might be an idea to look away now:)<br />
<br />
The <a href="http://merrymondaychristmaschallenge.blogspot.ie">Merry Monday Challenge Blog</a> is always a great place to find a theme and inspiration for Christmas cards. <a href="http://merrymondaychristmaschallenge.blogspot.ie/2017/01/merry-monday-230-noel.html">This week's challenge</a> is to have the word "Noel" and/or a Scandinavian feel to the card. I decided to go with a red and white colour combination and add texture with an embossing folder that has a cosy knitted look. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBUUKHvqAjWXsIqC7vcZA3TxDvmuwqz_ZHDQim4z8vd2rZM47p0_LiklOxFjvx23jQrr-yZahRY1UNPWTRaaSEeUgsPQ_xFdjBd7sVK0eoXxewzlUS4qpu_dDQnw8dal0vvh_i3EPFPCA/s1600/IMGP9569.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBUUKHvqAjWXsIqC7vcZA3TxDvmuwqz_ZHDQim4z8vd2rZM47p0_LiklOxFjvx23jQrr-yZahRY1UNPWTRaaSEeUgsPQ_xFdjBd7sVK0eoXxewzlUS4qpu_dDQnw8dal0vvh_i3EPFPCA/s640/IMGP9569.JPG" width="479" height="640" /></a></div><br />
<b><i>Die - Christmas Tree (Docrafts)<br />
Embossing Folder - Cable Knit Pattern (Docrafts)</i><br />
</b><br />
I started by embossing a card panel and added it to the card base using foam pads. Next I die cut the Christmas tree three times. The top layer was cut from white card and the other layers from red card. I applied barn door distress ink to the white die cut and adhered the trees together. To finish I added a small bow to the tree. An added little bonus is a panel I have from when I applied the distress ink to the die cut and the die cut acted as a mask. I'll make another card from that over the weekend. <br />

I love the way the dies can be either used to do partial cuts on card so the layers can be popped up for some extra dimension or, by adding the frame dies, they can be used to cut out snowflakes. Today I used the die for partial cuts but at a later stage I'll be cutting the snowflakes out completely to make decorations for our Christmas tree and also for more cards, gift tags and gift wrap. Lol that's of course presuming I'll have a lot of crafting time between now and Christmas!<br />
<br />
Anyway on to the card. I used the dies on a panel of white card and added it to the card base. Then I used glossy accents to adhere sequins to the centres of the snowflakes. I always love a little, or a lot, of sparkle on Christmas cards so added strips of gold glitter card to the sides of the panel. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgl2m4BJCKS4z9kqQ3RutYBNHaRGUl4DNXeD9jw6d-4i-y381YYBBr2iq3CIiWmbnTQOXfFlu36ZRMbxCSuCmKy0Su6H7DQPX6_XRHxPh46lcZt1_WACpqFGgTzolJPSCN88T5sLXbHmBs/s1600/IMGP9416.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgl2m4BJCKS4z9kqQ3RutYBNHaRGUl4DNXeD9jw6d-4i-y381YYBBr2iq3CIiWmbnTQOXfFlu36ZRMbxCSuCmKy0Su6H7DQPX6_XRHxPh46lcZt1_WACpqFGgTzolJPSCN88T5sLXbHmBs/s640/IMGP9416.JPG" width="479" height="640" /></a></div><br />
<i><b>Dies (Hero Arts) - Paper Layering Snowflakes & Fancy Cut Christmas</b><br />
</i><br />
Since I was on a sparkly roll I also die cut the sentiment from glitter card, layered it twice, for strength and dimension, and added it to the card with foam pads. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3_Nddbqy_YN8NCPkczjdjtYxIwuvHmyGLXWcfn0GYBezxr9NBQxJt1CMBig2xWFiib5CVJ1QUTEITLLB6pmAs3kUoc1WzfxwA3StUkMMJChdcrnWOq2nESh4z1J6jX8S_2rkBfCOiht8/s1600/IMGP9447.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3_Nddbqy_YN8NCPkczjdjtYxIwuvHmyGLXWcfn0GYBezxr9NBQxJt1CMBig2xWFiib5CVJ1QUTEITLLB6pmAs3kUoc1WzfxwA3StUkMMJChdcrnWOq2nESh4z1J6jX8S_2rkBfCOiht8/s640/IMGP9447.JPG" width="480" height="640" /></a></div><br />
These dark, wintery evenings give me a good excuse to start lighting candles again. So I decided to decorate a couple of chunky jars to hold nightlights. Soon these will go on our mantelpiece along with greenery and some Christmas decorations.<br />
<br />

Again for the jars I used the dies to do partial cuts on a panel of card, popped up the snowflakes and added strips of gold glitter card and sequins. <br />

My friend <a href="http://scrappinstampinsingin.blogspot.com/">Linda</a> recently sent some fun die cuts that I used along with Hero Arts Ghostly Greetings set on today's card. <br />
<br />
I started by stamping the sentiment on a square of card and added the pretty die cut wreath Linda had sent me. To decorate the wreath I used glitter bat die cuts, again from Linda, and some orange sequins I picked up when shopping with Linda during the summer. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHff4VFfgdDmNcx1bE7GVdmNZBiMWPqGip2_RmimU6icFqMXNhWrYCPdHauj4YE1sEEhUZfTmYvw3tTjCpIsYT5VEr3le8yhzSF_rgjtD9UfkdGQQ0I29Ah9B0oDF8pXpjVHwzmMqcjUo/s1600/IMGP9240.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHff4VFfgdDmNcx1bE7GVdmNZBiMWPqGip2_RmimU6icFqMXNhWrYCPdHauj4YE1sEEhUZfTmYvw3tTjCpIsYT5VEr3le8yhzSF_rgjtD9UfkdGQQ0I29Ah9B0oDF8pXpjVHwzmMqcjUo/s640/IMGP9240.JPG" width="482" height="640" /></a></div><i><b><br />

<br />
Even though I have a huge jar of googly eyes, I discovered the little ones either had brown or pink eyes, so the bats ended up being brown eyed.<br />

Our clocks went back at the weekend so in an hour or so it will be dark and the trick or treaters should start arriving. I'm looking forward to seeing what all the kids are dressed as and moving a lot of the mountain of tempting treats out of the house! Hope you have a wonderful Halloween! <br />

Instead of spending the extra time in bed, I used it to make a card.<br />
<br />
I wanted to use the mistletoe image and fun sentiment from Hero Arts <a href="https://heroarts.com/shop-sidebar/cl998-happy-holly-days/">Happy Holly Days</a> set on my card. <br />

I started by embossing a panel of kraft card and attached it to the card base with foam pads. Then I cut out and coloured two sprigs of mistletoe and added them to the card. To finish I added a gingham bow and added a coating of star dust stickles to the berries. <br />

<b>NEW RELEASE</b><br />
<br />
It really is one of the most wonderful times of the year when <a href="https://heroarts.com/shop-sidebar/ps918-2016-winter-catalog/">Hero Arts' Winter Catalogue</a> is released! I always spend hours poring over the catalogue and adding favourites to my shopping list - it always ends up being a very long list:) The sumptuous cover on this year's catalogue gives just a tiny glimpse of the wonderful crafting goodness packed inside.<br />

CARDS</b><br />
<br />
My blog post is going to be long enough as it is so I'm not going to add my usual detailed description of how I've made my cards. If you have any questions though please feel free to ask in the comments section or send me an email at stampingandstitching@gmail.com and I'll get back to you. <br />
<br />
I just love the cute little mittens from Kelly’s S’Mitten set and for this card teamed them with a wreath from the September kit. I went to town with sparkle on this card with the shimmery white background and glittery sentiment, bow and sprigs of berries. <br />
<br />

I love the beautiful bird from the Vintage Christmas Post set so decided to have that as a focal point on my next card. Can you tell I love wreaths?! As I wanted the bird to really pop on the card I used kraft card for my wreath. The wreath was made by using one of the wreaths from the September kit as a base and I intertwined branches which had also been cut out with a die from that kit. <br />

Next up I used my absolute favourite die from the release - the Paper Layering Santa Face with Frame die. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHE1fc_bxA7Y_KbynSF5jYOrjIGeLhuJdgb6OVuMBr5IMvu4ynWln17vNOMYJHufBvIEPImn4kuAmbU0NapPmP_UwCduTxq0SeAHQ3-Cmqhjx63Xv9FlDs5BCTOo8AJz8No7rTUnwIazY/s1600/IMGP9050.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHE1fc_bxA7Y_KbynSF5jYOrjIGeLhuJdgb6OVuMBr5IMvu4ynWln17vNOMYJHufBvIEPImn4kuAmbU0NapPmP_UwCduTxq0SeAHQ3-Cmqhjx63Xv9FlDs5BCTOo8AJz8No7rTUnwIazY/s640/IMGP9050.JPG" width="479" height="640" /></a></div><br />

</i><br />
I think this Santa has such a lovely expression on his face and it's such an amazing and unique die in the way that Santa's beard and moustache can be given a fun 3D look by simply curling the cuts. This Santa is going to be on so many of my Christmas cards this year and he will also be perfect for gift tags. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjQheJoaJWkzBQmek9NtCO3P2wpMECcwRkaAeN8H-3xIBg5YwBwz_atrV0IXKaoiP947rQNubyXQAGueK3QAfZIdbbYZGxAywavqK2Kd2j0jjh-1uOJQTeupk2TUA-zAIs49SGbfDcii8/s1600/IMGP9080.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjQheJoaJWkzBQmek9NtCO3P2wpMECcwRkaAeN8H-3xIBg5YwBwz_atrV0IXKaoiP947rQNubyXQAGueK3QAfZIdbbYZGxAywavqK2Kd2j0jjh-1uOJQTeupk2TUA-zAIs49SGbfDcii8/s640/IMGP9080.JPG" width="480" height="640" /></a></div><br />
My final card is one that includes a present on the card front. The cute little crocheted Christmas stocking is perfect for hanging on a Christmas tree and holding a gift card and other little pressies inside. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuF_APTuL_c_CRu2AZfTW6n6PAQfC5u7GIPWIs94IV4rpnnMXHT897d-tJ4JyPiITQXKHDplTnAmCCeeUu6aTjZgD_wjBTN-26X7oHk8OLC2AJ6G0oDSXAx-SqExfzAlwPfGUCxRRPJEE/s1600/IMGP8776.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuF_APTuL_c_CRu2AZfTW6n6PAQfC5u7GIPWIs94IV4rpnnMXHT897d-tJ4JyPiITQXKHDplTnAmCCeeUu6aTjZgD_wjBTN-26X7oHk8OLC2AJ6G0oDSXAx-SqExfzAlwPfGUCxRRPJEE/s640/IMGP8776.JPG" width="640" height="480" /></a></div><br />

WIN A CROCHET PATTERN</b><br />
<br />
The adorable <a href="https://www.etsy.com/ie/listing/248177563/crochet-pattern-christmas-stocking-santa?ref=shop_home_active_8">Christmas stocking</a> on my last card was designed and crocheted by a very talented lady, <a href="https://www.etsy.com/ie/people/avondalepatterns">Ruth Teskey</a>, who has a fabulous array of crochet patterns in her shop <a href="https://www.etsy.com/ie/shop/avondalepatterns?ref=profile_shopname">Avondale Patterns</a>. Ruth's patterns are available in both European and US crochet terms. For a bit of fun I'm going to give one person a pattern from her shop. To be in with a chance to win just mention in your comment your favourite pattern from Ruth's shop and you never know you might just win it:) I'll announce the winner of the pattern on Sunday 30th October. <br />
<br />

It's to make a holiday project in non traditional colours. I have to admit I usually make my Christmas cards in traditional colours, but with this challenge decided to go a bit wild (for me:)) with colours and used a lot of black which is another colour I wouldn't usually use on Christmas cards. <br />

Die (My Favorite Things) - Pierced Rectangle Frames </i><br />
</b><br />
I die cut the frame, adhered it with foam pads to a panel of black glitter card and again used foam pads to adhere this to my card base. Then I coloured and added Wink of Stella to baubles images my friend <a href="http://scrappinstampinsingin.blogspot.com/">Linda</a> sent me (thanks again, Linda!) and added bows made from baker's twine. I really enjoyed trying out different colours on my Christmas card so will definitely make a few more Christmas cards this year using non traditional colours. <br />

Hero Arts' cute <a href="https://heroarts.com/shop-sidebar/cl999-holiday-mittens/">Holiday Mittens</a> set reminded me of the long crochet chains my Mam used to make to string through my jackets and attach to my mittens to prevent them being lost. So of course I had to make a card using the pretty mittens from the set. <br />

<br />
I started by applying distress inks (broken china and salty ocean) to white card, spritzed with water and stamped the snowflakes in faded denim distress ink. Then I had fun colouring the cute little mittens and added diamond stickles to the centres of the snowflakes for a little sparkle. <br />

Instead of crocheting a chain, I plaited thread and used it to connect the mittens. By using tiny pieces of a glue dot I was able to form and keep a heart shape in the plaited piece. Only 85 days till Christmas - I'll have to get cracking on making more cards!<br />

This time the challenge is to ink an embossing folder. <br />
<br />
This week I needed to make a quick card so inked up the snowflake embossing folder (thanks again, Linda!) with dusty concord and milled lavender distress inks. After spritzing some water on the ink I embossed a panel of white card. Once the ink had dried I added it to the card base with foam pads and added some gems. The sentiment was stamped in dusty concord distress ink.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQL3MsQlWSqaDHSXRnXIlfUphNcfDdAbnoEvM4zL9IOONR_LFMlODesG_POmK8LQdZLv3d3n8xyIUg5_o5ExuNJRiXVFKJXyZPtBndBK1qDnT6JiHmEBphNurfGuPY5UQzAkABGWEYTjU/s1600/IMGP8177.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQL3MsQlWSqaDHSXRnXIlfUphNcfDdAbnoEvM4zL9IOONR_LFMlODesG_POmK8LQdZLv3d3n8xyIUg5_o5ExuNJRiXVFKJXyZPtBndBK1qDnT6JiHmEBphNurfGuPY5UQzAkABGWEYTjU/s640/IMGP8177.JPG" width="481" height="640" /></a></div><br />
<b><i>Embossing folder - Snowflake Set (Hero Arts)<br />
Stamp - Very Merry Christmas (Hero Arts)</i><br />
</b><br />
There are little splodges of ink on the snowflake which I kind of like as it give the snowflake a bit of a distressed look. On my first attempt at making the panel I definitely went way overboard spritzing water on the ink on the embossing folder which meant the ink ran everywhere, including on the snowflake, when I passed the folder through the Big Shot. Anyway I ended up with a panel I can use on another card.<br />

This week’s theme is to make a shaker card. I really love making shaker cards but don’t love taking photos of them! It’s hard to avoid catching lots of reflections from the acetate in photos but here goes anyway:) <br />
<br />
I started by making a background with alcohol inks and blending solution. A mix of sequins went in between the background and front of the shaker element. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnJBbY5kNXyU6plmnSP9dFcpaw27FdLiclea2M1kmd8EAevIjArVUezGqwnfn1jtHPDy98e5Hln7nq_CrxtCT34QDHb7VvjxDMqDvdewSI39se_5UlQIUVzmQM0n4E1TO2t9DHd7YheTk/s1600/IMGP8159.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnJBbY5kNXyU6plmnSP9dFcpaw27FdLiclea2M1kmd8EAevIjArVUezGqwnfn1jtHPDy98e5Hln7nq_CrxtCT34QDHb7VvjxDMqDvdewSI39se_5UlQIUVzmQM0n4E1TO2t9DHd7YheTk/s640/IMGP8159.JPG" width="482" height="640" /></a></div><br />
<b><i>Die - Pierced Rectangle Frames (My Favorite Things) & Bristol Snowflake (Memory Box) <br />
Gems - Snowflake Gems (Hero Arts)</i></b><br />
<br />
I added a pretty die cut snowflake and a snowflake gem both of which Linda had sent me.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0SjMTdjuP-sCrDZ3sdGKTfE46IhJyM5RRRqnU56FFWyicD8scCVJFqWX8pDiixZc5fXsweMa43qGYGW4LH8vcQ6YWRTr764FgnIfyH3Ou5eIz_a2tj9tR9VO5CaHFW6jrFVkCga0mpDE/s1600/IMGP8162.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0SjMTdjuP-sCrDZ3sdGKTfE46IhJyM5RRRqnU56FFWyicD8scCVJFqWX8pDiixZc5fXsweMa43qGYGW4LH8vcQ6YWRTr764FgnIfyH3Ou5eIz_a2tj9tR9VO5CaHFW6jrFVkCga0mpDE/s640/IMGP8162.JPG" width="640" height="480" /></a></div><br />
I was going to leave the card front without a sentiment but in the end added a sparkly die cut sentiment.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnQ_jdC0g4kcqQJL28MkiJnQeF2dRRBom2uQD3S3QPJ8V4qnGhXUui_hD9mgxO2zeWl7c1sB9cPXMJsoDJvo1LX4BHThvPqbl-rtEHdlCEL__nlIfwAExVYlthWFdY4_3PTftMw_nr2J4/s1600/IMGP8171.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnQ_jdC0g4kcqQJL28MkiJnQeF2dRRBom2uQD3S3QPJ8V4qnGhXUui_hD9mgxO2zeWl7c1sB9cPXMJsoDJvo1LX4BHThvPqbl-rtEHdlCEL__nlIfwAExVYlthWFdY4_3PTftMw_nr2J4/s640/IMGP8171.JPG" width="481" height="640" /></a></div><br />
<b><i>Die - Pierced Rectangle Frames (My Favorite Things), Fancy Cut Christmas (Hero Arts) & Bristol Snowflake (Memory Box) <br />
Gems - Snowflake Gems (Hero Arts)</i></b><br />
<br />
I’m afraid I didn’t get to make a card last week for Linda’s challenge or a matching tag to go with today's card but hopefully in the next few days I’ll play catch up on my card and tags. <a href="http://scrappinstampinsingin.blogspot.ie/2016/08/tag-youre-it.html">Here</a> you can find the fun challenge Linda has set for this week. stampingandstitchinghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15234850691152873335noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6625349853824254892.post-38492839090236793742016-08-01T11:49:00.000+01:002016-08-01T12:10:41.535+01:00Blog Title Christmas ChallengeIt's Monday again so time to set my friend <a href="http://scrappinstampinsingin.blogspot.ie">Linda</a> a Christmas card challenge. This week's challenge is use your blog title as inspiration for your card. So Linda with <a href="http://scrappinstampinsingin.blogspot.ie">Scrappin', Stampin' and Singin'</a> you have lots of scope for some musical fun! I had to keep stamping and stitching in mind when making my card. <br />
<br />
I started by die cutting a panel from kraft card using a die from Simon Says Stamp's Bundle of Stitched Shapes. After stitching the panel I added it to a white card base. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXAuin9rSNA1JBJozHlfzgxEhOXlkfxFjuqfusygK5kLscHZuZcGdzkTVPNjMY3I691bvujXbtLgzIjL-DnUBZH_DhIpxfbZWsE54jwgkhY-FIgNsvyBa7wrIoIuqQqoOZQYAUn-xY4t8/s1600/IMGP8123.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXAuin9rSNA1JBJozHlfzgxEhOXlkfxFjuqfusygK5kLscHZuZcGdzkTVPNjMY3I691bvujXbtLgzIjL-DnUBZH_DhIpxfbZWsE54jwgkhY-FIgNsvyBa7wrIoIuqQqoOZQYAUn-xY4t8/s640/IMGP8123.JPG" width="479" height="640" /></a></div><br />
<b><i>Stamp - Furry Christmas (Simon Says Stamp)<br />
Dies - Bundle of Stitched Shapes (Simon Says Stamp) & Pierced Rectangle Frames (My Favorite Things)</i></b><br />
<br />
Then I stamped the cute image and sentiment from Simon Says Stamp's Furry Christmas, coloured with Promarkers and added diamond stickles. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7n65WZxCuRunKOaAAFlx9VrrwJ0EA_kpFEsBdQBZfA0PfflYxlAwjmiwGONPi_vfk8gKBj7h4lJDDKxfqnpZpoyX5OvV2t6L2hcrx2rEpRDhQGokYCOwXzF_yrV8Msko86AoTrAwxKzI/s1600/IMGP8126.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7n65WZxCuRunKOaAAFlx9VrrwJ0EA_kpFEsBdQBZfA0PfflYxlAwjmiwGONPi_vfk8gKBj7h4lJDDKxfqnpZpoyX5OvV2t6L2hcrx2rEpRDhQGokYCOwXzF_yrV8Msko86AoTrAwxKzI/s640/IMGP8126.JPG" width="480" height="640" /></a></div><br />
It's hard to see from the photos but the hat, scarf and taller dog's head have been cut again and adhered to the panel with foam pads for some extra dimension. After die cutting and adding the glittery frame I stamped and cut out another tail so it would curl out over the frame.<br />
<br />
Here's the matching gift tag to go with my card. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwdrG0dBqk78O0SCb8tAmK9c78vdNpFkUNvSEj5QnQ8x5NpTlXqrLKLoIMsc1bgSnxxp7TPfjfFvegEVdq0y_60hd_ncblPbS74BzI7N_KObhfeLuhBPlCLt8d5XbmzvafxvAYqMsg6G8/s1600/IMGP8134.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwdrG0dBqk78O0SCb8tAmK9c78vdNpFkUNvSEj5QnQ8x5NpTlXqrLKLoIMsc1bgSnxxp7TPfjfFvegEVdq0y_60hd_ncblPbS74BzI7N_KObhfeLuhBPlCLt8d5XbmzvafxvAYqMsg6G8/s640/IMGP8134.JPG" width="640" height="480" /></a></div><br />
<b><i>Stamp - Furry Christmas (Simon Says Stamp)<br />

<br />
I'm submitting these into <a href="https://www.flickr.com/groups/simonsaysstamp/discuss/72157668480001353/">Simon Says Stamp's 50th Flickr Challenge</a>. <br />

Linda has another fun challenge lined up for me this week. You can find it <a href="http://scrappinstampinsingin.blogspot.ie/2016/08/same-stamp-challenge.html">here</a> on her blog. stampingandstitchinghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15234850691152873335noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6625349853824254892.post-46465645382445281302016-07-31T16:04:00.000+01:002016-07-31T16:04:05.502+01:00It's Purple ReallyThis week my friend <a href="http://scrappinstampinsingin.blogspot.ie/">Linda</a> challenged me to make a card using the emboss resist technique. It's been a bit of a hectic week so I only got around to making my card today. <br />
<br />
I just love this technique - nothing like doing a bit of embossing and then getting inky!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjh-L704vtuRyIEnVR5qJBSMiHWX1ZoR_2zUw0x36R5qcDGgn1AwYTUc_DeSGkS1QjZqENi5m_4SjhLmQoBHMdXorfgRmerQVBGZ7rYPIdGUQbBt1Q_2JD8lpzixGBMm-1OQyoyQlpSKGM/s1600/IMGP8101.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjh-L704vtuRyIEnVR5qJBSMiHWX1ZoR_2zUw0x36R5qcDGgn1AwYTUc_DeSGkS1QjZqENi5m_4SjhLmQoBHMdXorfgRmerQVBGZ7rYPIdGUQbBt1Q_2JD8lpzixGBMm-1OQyoyQlpSKGM/s640/IMGP8101.JPG" width="480" height="640" /></a></div><br />
Unfortunately my camera seems to be having a problem distinguishing purple from blue today so even though my card is very purple having used shaded lilac and dusty concord distress inks, my card and tag look more blue in the photos.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRmnAcmisv3fTcoJBavdkuc4Y_yH6PWc_bWvfU7lzN8um9dhPE8Y7DN8cOntt8nZFgtE59Nj-SlQheSbWZdui2NGuRZCwjtj0F76vOWLUudlkP3sK93MlDxHtEH3gfFucfK19S-vUyZYg/s1600/IMGP8116.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRmnAcmisv3fTcoJBavdkuc4Y_yH6PWc_bWvfU7lzN8um9dhPE8Y7DN8cOntt8nZFgtE59Nj-SlQheSbWZdui2NGuRZCwjtj0F76vOWLUudlkP3sK93MlDxHtEH3gfFucfK19S-vUyZYg/s640/IMGP8116.JPG" width="482" height="640" /></a></div><br />
I started by clear embossing snowflakes from a number of Hero Arts sets (will add names tomorrow) on white card. After applying the distress inks I sprinkled water on the panel using Tim Holtz's Splatter Brush which Linda recently gave me - thanks again, Linda:) Once the panel was panel was dry I adhered it to a card base, added the embossed sentiment and finished it off with some gems. <br />
<br />
I repeated the process on a tag I had die cut. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsFptW9R03A2_brECp3G43lS-yK4lb6ivgRe2tA-bbcIICmk0tVl7YAtfDadBFP7Ox2RGFFxfcF8zKIfpeqZlq_oMOCK3ANOr1NcksA_r_q73ZAYP9ntfC02Kv4PaIu28Udo-VNiNWZvo/s1600/IMGP8114.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsFptW9R03A2_brECp3G43lS-yK4lb6ivgRe2tA-bbcIICmk0tVl7YAtfDadBFP7Ox2RGFFxfcF8zKIfpeqZlq_oMOCK3ANOr1NcksA_r_q73ZAYP9ntfC02Kv4PaIu28Udo-VNiNWZvo/s640/IMGP8114.JPG" width="480" height="640" /></a></div><br />
Another two items ready to go into my stash for Christmas. <br />
<br />

Just before I head to work I want to set another Christmas card challenge for my friend <a href="http://scrappinstampinsingin.blogspot.com/">Linda</a>. This week I’m going with Critter\s Christmas so the card should have any type of animal\s on it.<br />
<br />
For my card and tag I inked up a funny reindeer image from Art Impressions. As soon as I spotted the reindeer with the wobbly bottom I had to get it – I know some of my family and friends will get a laugh out of that fella when they see him on their Christmas cards. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzb-zfM8RKHllXXpBD2QCw7svojGQ47zap_xk5HIpWA6VlPSyD3dnyFGY85VfOXLdY13gH7hC0P6Ah0ArmpoOVVqyNPWpMG7exBsrQKeWLWM9Ts2EfCVmSBxSCvRpTj5-3LcsFwc2SaNg/s1600/IMGP8033.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzb-zfM8RKHllXXpBD2QCw7svojGQ47zap_xk5HIpWA6VlPSyD3dnyFGY85VfOXLdY13gH7hC0P6Ah0ArmpoOVVqyNPWpMG7exBsrQKeWLWM9Ts2EfCVmSBxSCvRpTj5-3LcsFwc2SaNg/s640/IMGP8033.JPG" width="479" height="640" /></a></div><br />
<b><i>Stamp – Jingle Set (Art Impressions) <br />
Embossing Folder – Snowflake Scroll (Darice)</i></b><br />
<br />
After stamping, colouring and cutting out the reindeer I adhered him to a card panel that had been embossed and stamped with the sentiment. Then I cut out and coloured an extra bottom which shakes as it’s been adhered to the larger image with an action wobble. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSdj73PNxdBYEBCqSGlUnizcJpOW0Xaeqr0J0isOBTXS_ASPNSl7CLU7TvnLiEBNQvxgZTSmL2u23773iwJCn0b4shFdodD8kdq5Lvz_Yl7SSm388QTHh0gASrj8YD40tFBuSfDniJCUU/s1600/IMGP8035.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSdj73PNxdBYEBCqSGlUnizcJpOW0Xaeqr0J0isOBTXS_ASPNSl7CLU7TvnLiEBNQvxgZTSmL2u23773iwJCn0b4shFdodD8kdq5Lvz_Yl7SSm388QTHh0gASrj8YD40tFBuSfDniJCUU/s640/IMGP8035.JPG" width="640" height="480" /></a></div><br />
I had to add a little sparkle so out came diamond stickles to go on the bells. <br />
<br />
