Glittering Wedding Wishes

My last wedding card was in muted colours so this time I wanted to use bolder colours and try to keep the card plain and simple.

Glittery Wedding Wishes
Stamps (Hero Arts) - Heart Winged Butterfly & Warmest Wedding Wishes

I love using the Heart Winged Butterfly on wedding cards and started by white embossing the butterflies on vellum.

Glittering Wedding Wishes Close-Up

To emphasise the hearts on the image I embossed the image again, cut out some of the hearts and covered them (and myself!) with a layer of red glitter. The sentiment was also embossed in white and I just added some machine stitching to finish.

Congratulations Jenny and Jason!

Today it’s Jenny and Jason’s wedding day! Jenny is one of our wonderful, bubbly hostesses in the Hero Arts Flick group and Tami has organised a surprise virtual wedding card shower for the happy couple.

Tami had suggested using a something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue theme. So I tried to incorporate all of these into the card in some way.

Congratulations Jenny and Jason!
Stamps - Heart Winged Butterfly & Fabulous Flourish (Hero Arts), Congratulations (Docrafts)

Old – Congratulations stamp
New – Fabulous Flourish stamp
Borrowed – the smaller pearls on the butterflies are borrowed off a top!
Blue – broken china distress ink

To start with I embossed the flourish and sentiment in white on watercolour paper, applied broken china distress ink and spritzed lightly with water. I white embossed the butterflies on vellum and embossed parts of the wings again using an embossing pen and stardust embossing powder. Then I added pearls to the bodies. The little heart pearls from Hero Arts are one of my favourite embellishments so I just had to add them beside the sentiment!

Congratulations Jenny and Jason!

Jenny and Jason, congratulations on your wedding day! Wishing you all of the very best as you look forward to a lifetime of love, laughter and happiness together!

More cards from Linda

As I've mentioned before I love being in the Hero Arts Flickr group for all the inspiration and fun. It has also been brilliant getting to know the lovely and talented ladies in the group like Linda (ScrappinBari on Flickr). Because of a comment that she left on one of my cards, we recently ended up doing a little card swap.

Linda surprised me with this absolutely adorable card which I had included in my favourites in the Flick group. The flower box with the beautiful flowers has such gorgeous dimension, colours and colouring.

Stamps (Hero Arts) - Curly Flowers & Easter Set AR176 (exclusive to Archiver's)

And who could resist this cute little bunny peeking out from the ribbon and flowers?

Linda also sent me a mini card and ATC which she had made at an Archiver's class. The mini card is 3 inches square and is such a dote! If you know me you'll know I love sewing so I've put the card on the shelf above my sewing machine so I can see it as I'm sewing away. I wish my sewing machine looked as pretty as this one!

Stamps (Hero Arts) - Sew Artsy

Unfortunately my photo doesn't capture how beautiful Linda's ATC is in real life. The distressing and stamping are wonderful and there is such a delicate sparkle off the pretty butterflies.

Stamps (Tim Holtz) - Urban Chic

Here is a link to Linda's photostream where you can see lots more of her gorgeous cards.

This is the card I sent to Linda (more details here)

Crackled Butterflies
Stamps used (Hero Arts):- Antique Engravings, Wild Flowers & Messages

and the ATC is below. The butterfly is embossed on a shimmery fabric using sparkly embossing powder and the background is one of the beautiful papers from a Kaiser Craft pad that Paula and Dawn sent me. Thanks again Paula and Dawn!

Thanks again Linda for the fun swap and for all the gorgeous goodies you sent me to play with!

PaperPlay Challenge - Your Number's Up

It’s Thursday so it’s time for a new challenge at PaperPlay. The challenge this week is titled “Your Number’s Up”. So you can make a card for any occasion as long as a number features prominently on it. The prize this week is sponsored by Simon Says Stamp! and the winner will receive a $15 voucher for the store. I hope you’ll join in!

I wanted to make a 25th wedding anniversary card and decided to use the opportunity to go all out with silver and sparkle (hard to tell with photos taken on a dull day)!

Stamps (Hero Arts):- Flourish Background, Heart Winged Butterfly

The background is a piece of vellum clear embossed with the Flourish Background. I printed the numbers (from a free template on the internet) onto white card, cut them out and embossed with stardust embossing powder. I repeated the embossing process twice more.

I love the Heart Winged Butterfly stamp from Hero Arts and thought it would be nice to use on an anniversary card. The butterflies are also embossed with stardust embossing powder. One layer is embossed on white card and the other is on a piece of silk fabric. To finish I added some machine stitching and trails of silver gems with a white pearl heart (Hero Arts) at the base of each one.

I’m looking forward to seeing your creations!

Trinh told me about the monochromatic challenge at the CARDS blog so I've submitted this card. Thanks Trinh for yet again alerting me to a challenge!
